Moplah – Massacre of more than 10,000 Hindus in 1921.

In India, whenever Muslims have massacred Hindus or attacked Hindu religious processions, these incidents have always been termed Hindu-Muslim riots rather than Muslims attacking Hindus. Under the guise of the Khilafat Movement launched against the British, Muslims massacred more than 10,000 Hindus in Moplah of Malabar, Kerala on 20 August 1921. Even a leader like Mahatma Gandhi turned a blind eye to the massacre of Hindus who are supporting the ‘Khilafat Movement’. According to former Kerala BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan, this incident in 1921 was the first incident of ‘jihadi genocide’ in the state.

The genocide of Hindus continued for about 6 months, in which more than 10,000 lives were lost, thousands of women were raped, pregnant women were killed by ripping their stomachs, thousands of girls were converted to Islam.

In 1921, the Muslim population was the highest in many districts in South Malabar. They were 60% of the total population. Now the time came when Mahatma Gandhi got the Congress’s support for the ‘Khilafat Movement’ to ‘win the confidence’ of Muslims. And with this support from Gandhiji, Muslims started massacring Hindus.

What was the Khilafat Movement?

Khilafat Movement was being carried out to reinstate the Ottoman Empire. It was being held to appoint the Turkish Caliph as the leader of Islam all over the world. India’s independence had nothing to do with Turkey or the Ottoman Empire, but Mahatma Gandhi supported one of their campaigns to connect Muslims with the Congress, the ill effects of which had to be borne by the Hindus. Muslims started boycotting Hindus. Hindus were targeted by Muslims. Their homes, properties, and farms were destroyed by Muslims.

If the Khilafat Movement was against the British, then why were Hindus targeted, why were Hindu temples, houses, and farms burnt? Why were Hindu women raped, why were Hindu women converted? More than 10,000 Hindus were massacred in protest against the British and a national leader like Mahatma Gandhi closed his eyes.

Why did National Leader Mahatma Gandhi close his eyes to the genocide of Hindus by Muslims?

Perhaps love for Muslims, perhaps hatred for Hindus. Gandhiji’s thinking is still working in India in favor of Muslims and against Hindus.
